USEFP Clarifies Concerns Over the Termination of Global Undergraduate Exchange Program in Pakistan

The United States Educational Foundation in Pakistan (USEFP) has responded to recent media reports and public concerns regarding the termination of the Global Undergraduate Exchange Program (Global UGRAD) in Pakistan. In a press release, USEFP clarified that the program is not being discontinued, and reassured students and the public about the continued strong educational ties between the United States and Pakistan.

USEFP emphasized its commitment to strengthening the people-to-people relationship between the two nations. The organization stated, “The United States is proud to host over 11,000 Pakistani students in U.S. universities, and we encourage Pakistanis to continue selecting the U.S. as their destination for higher education opportunities.”

The press release also assured the public that the 54 Pakistani students currently participating in the Global UGRAD Program in the U.S. will be able to complete their programs as planned. These students will return to Pakistan after their studies and will continue to benefit from the program’s scholarships and associated benefits until they finish their academic journeys.

Additionally, USEFP confirmed that several other U.S. government-funded exchange programs, including the prestigious Fulbright Program, remain operational and available for Pakistani students. There were claims circulating that the Fulbright Program had been discontinued, but USEFP debunked these rumors, stating that Fulbright participants will continue to receive their scholarships without interruption.

The press release also pointed out that the U.S. Department of State is conducting a strategic global review of its exchange programs to ensure alignment with current administration priorities. This review is part of an ongoing effort to ensure that U.S. exchange programs continue to meet both domestic and international needs.

Finally, USEFP assured that they would keep Pakistani students updated with any future developments regarding U.S. government-funded exchange programs as new information becomes available.

The clarification comes amid growing public speculation and concerns about the future of educational exchange programs between the two countries. With this official statement, USEFP has aimed to reassure students that these valuable opportunities will continue, helping to strengthen educational and cultural ties between Pakistan and the United States.
