Pakistan, Kuwait Agree to Strengthen Bilateral Cooperation and Promote Regional Peace
ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif met with Kuwait’s Foreign Minister Sheikh Jarrah Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah on Wednesday to discuss bilateral relations, the regional security situation, and ways to enhance cooperation across multiple sectors.
According to an official statement, the meeting was attended by Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, along with the federal ministers for defence, commerce, national food security, communications, maritime affairs, petroleum, and the prime minister’s adviser.
Prime Minister Sharif conveyed his best wishes to the Amir of Kuwait, Sheikh Mishal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, and Crown Prince Sheikh Sabah Al-Khalid. He said that Pakistan and Kuwait share longstanding brotherly ties founded on mutual trust, shared values, and decades of close cooperation, noting that both countries have consistently supported each other during times of need.
The two sides also exchanged views on the regional situation. The prime minister reaffirmed Pakistan’s solidarity with the leadership and people of Kuwait and strongly condemned attacks on Kuwait and other Gulf countries during the ongoing regional conflict. He reiterated Pakistan’s commitment to supporting peace in the region through sincere mediation and constructive diplomatic engagement.
Prime Minister Sharif expressed satisfaction over the positive momentum in bilateral relations and reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to expanding cooperation with Kuwait in trade, investment, energy, agriculture, information technology, maritime affairs, and workforce development.
He also thanked the Kuwaiti government for hosting the Pakistani community and praised its contribution to Kuwait’s social and economic development.
The Kuwaiti foreign minister conveyed the greetings and best wishes of the Kuwaiti leadership and reaffirmed his country’s commitment to strengthening cooperation with Pakistan in all areas of mutual interest. He also appreciated Pakistan’s diplomatic efforts to promote dialogue and resolve the current regional crisis through peaceful means, while thanking the Pakistani leadership and people for their unwavering support during challenging times.
Both leaders stressed the importance of continued consultations and close coordination to further deepen bilateral relations. They also agreed to exchange high-level delegations in the near future, while Prime Minister Sharif renewed his invitation to the Crown Prince of Kuwait to undertake an official visit to Pakistan.
