Balochistan Government Approves AI-Based Traffic Signals to Ease Congestion in Quetta
QUETTA: The Government of Balochistan has decided to install artificial intelligence (AI)-based traffic signals in Quetta as part of a comprehensive strategy to permanently address the city’s growing traffic challenges.
The decision was made during a high-level meeting chaired by Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti to review the implementation of a modern traffic management system in the provincial capital.
Officials informed the meeting that AI-powered traffic signals would be introduced to effectively manage increasing traffic volumes by automatically monitoring and regulating traffic flow, helping to reduce congestion across the city.
Chief Minister Bugti directed the relevant departments to ensure coordinated, sustainable, and efficient implementation of the modern traffic system. He emphasized that the use of advanced technology should improve traffic flow and provide safer and more convenient travel for citizens.
He said that ensuring public convenience and a safe traffic environment remains one of the Balochistan government’s top priorities, adding that the adoption of technology-driven solutions is a key component of the province’s reform agenda.
The Chief Minister noted that AI-based traffic management would reduce travel time, enhance road discipline, improve transparency, and strengthen traffic monitoring and enforcement.
He reaffirmed the government’s commitment to equipping Quetta with modern urban infrastructure and stated that technology-based decision-making would help create a safer, more organized, and commuter-friendly transportation system for residents.
