PMD Forecasts Rain, Thunderstorms and Strong Winds Across KP and Balochistan on Saturday, July 25
ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has forecast more rain accompanied by strong winds, dust storms, and thunderstorms in most districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) and Balochistan over the next 24 hours.
According to the PMD, partly cloudy weather is expected across various parts of KP on Saturday, with rain likely in both the plains and mountainous regions of the province.
Areas expected to receive rainfall include Peshawar, Nowshera, Mardan, Charsadda, Swabi, Chitral, Upper and Lower Dir, Swat, Shangla, Buner, Malakand, Kohistan, Battagram, Mansehra, and Abbottabad.
Rain has also been forecast for Bajaur, Mohmand, Khyber, Kohat, Karak, Hangu, Kurram, Orakzai, Lakki Marwat, Bannu, Dera Ismail Khan, Tank, and North and South Waziristan.
The Meteorological Department has issued warnings regarding possible weather-related hazards. Heavy rainfall in mountainous areas may trigger landslides and falling rocks, while flash floods and rising water levels in streams and seasonal nullahs remain a concern.
Low-lying areas of Peshawar, Nowshera, Charsadda, Mardan, and Swabi are also at risk of urban flooding due to heavy downpours, the PMD spokesperson said.
Over the past 24 hours, most parts of KP experienced rain accompanied by strong winds and thunderstorms. Bajaur recorded the highest rainfall at 58 millimeters, followed by Mohmand with 40 mm, Patan with 28 mm, and Peshawar with 15 mm.
In Peshawar, the minimum temperature was recorded at 23 degrees Celsius, while the maximum temperature is expected to reach 33 degrees Celsius. The lowest temperatures in the province were recorded in Malam Jabba at 14°C and Kalam at 15°C.
Meanwhile, the PMD has also predicted rain, thunderstorms, and gusty winds in most districts of Balochistan.
The areas likely to receive rainfall include Quetta, Nasirabad, Jhal Magsi, Jaffarabad, Dera Bugti, Panjgur, Awaran, Kalat, Khuzdar, Zhob, Musa Khel, Sherani, Loralai, Barkhan, Kohlu, Qila Saifullah, Pishin, and Lasbela.
Authorities have advised residents, particularly those living in vulnerable and low-lying areas, to remain cautious and stay updated on weather advisories as the wet spell continues.
