Lawyers Across Balochistan Boycott Court Proceedings in Protest Against Mastung Attack
Quetta: Lawyers across Balochistan boycotted court proceedings on the call of the Balochistan Bar Council to protest the attack in Mastung that claimed the lives of Session Judge Abdul Hakeem Kakar and his gunman.
The Balochistan Bar Council had announced three days of mourning and a two-day boycott of court proceedings while strongly condemning the attack. As part of the protest, lawyers across the province did not appear before courts, causing inconvenience to litigants and court users.
According to the Bar Council, Session Judge Abdul Hakeem Kakar and his gunman were martyred in the Mastung attack. Expressing profound grief and sorrow over the incident, the Council extended its condolences to the bereaved families of the victims.
The Balochistan Bar Council urged the government to further strengthen security arrangements for judges, lawyers, and court staff to prevent such tragic incidents in the future. It emphasized that ensuring the safety of members of the judiciary and the legal fraternity is essential for the effective administration of justice.
The Council also demanded the immediate arrest of those responsible for the attack and called for them to be brought to justice without delay. Furthermore, it urged the authorities to conduct a transparent and impartial investigation into the incident and ensure that all those involved are held accountable under the law.
