JUI Leader Maulana Abdul Wasey Criticizes Balochistan Government Over Security Situation
Quetta: Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI) Balochistan chief Senator Maulana Abdul Wasey and the party’s provincial General Secretary Maulana Agha Mahmood Shah have criticized the provincial government over the deteriorating law and order situation, alleging that it has failed to ensure public safety.
In a joint statement, the two leaders claimed that security conditions in Balochistan are worsening, with incidents involving vehicles being stopped on highways creating fear among travelers. They alleged that highways have become unsafe and that citizens, including women, no longer feel secure while traveling.
The JUI leaders said that if the government lacks the ability to restore law and order, it has no moral or constitutional justification to remain in power. They further alleged that security in several areas has deteriorated to the point where the government’s writ appears to have weakened.
According to the statement, the ongoing security situation has adversely affected businesses, employment, and economic activity across the province. The leaders also claimed that the closure of border crossings has disrupted agriculture, cross-border trade, the minerals sector, transportation, and commercial activities, leaving traders under severe financial pressure.
The statement also expressed concern over a notice reportedly issued regarding a mosque in Mastung and called on the authorities to withdraw it immediately, urging respect for religious sites and public religious sentiments.
The JUI leaders demanded that the government take immediate and effective measures to restore peace and order, secure national highways, protect the lives and property of citizens, reopen border trade, and address the concerns of traders, farmers, and the general public. They warned that continued inaction could further erode public confidence in government institutions.
