UK-Balochistan Cooperation Will Help Achieve Public Welfare and Sustainable Development Goals, Says CM Sarfraz Bugti

Islamabad: Balochistan Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti has said that enhanced cooperation between the United Kingdom and Balochistan in various sectors will contribute significantly to public welfare and the achievement of sustainable development goals in the province.

The remarks came during a meeting with British High Commissioner to Pakistan, Jane Marriott, in which both sides held detailed discussions on matters of mutual interest, development cooperation in Balochistan, and the strengthening of bilateral relations.

During the meeting, the two sides reviewed opportunities for collaboration in education, healthcare, governance, institutional capacity building, and investment. Chief Minister Bugti briefed the British High Commissioner on the provincial government’s ongoing administrative reforms, public welfare initiatives, and development priorities.

He stated that establishing lasting peace, promoting sustainable development, ensuring effective governance, and providing better public services remain among the top priorities of the Balochistan government.

“The provincial government is implementing comprehensive reforms aimed at enhancing transparency, improving governance, and making the development process more efficient,” the chief minister said.

Mir Sarfraz Bugti highlighted that Balochistan is rich in mineral resources, possesses significant geostrategic importance, and offers vast investment opportunities. He noted that the provincial government is working with international partners to create new avenues for economic growth and prosperity.

Expressing optimism about future collaboration, the chief minister said that stronger ties between the United Kingdom and Balochistan across various sectors would help advance sustainable development and improve the quality of life of the people of the province.

British High Commissioner Jane Marriott appreciated the development initiatives, reform programmes, and public service efforts undertaken by the Balochistan government. She also expressed interest in expanding cooperation with the province in multiple areas of mutual interest.

Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening development partnerships and exploring opportunities that can contribute to the long-term socio-economic progress of Balochistan.
