JUI-F’s Senator Abdul Wasey Defends Fazlur Rehman, Accuses PML-N of Politicizing Civil-Military Relations

QUETTA: Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) Balochistan chief and Senator Maulana Abdul Wasey has defended party chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman, alleging that attempts are being made to misrepresent his recent remarks and accusing the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) of creating divisions between the public and state institutions.

Addressing a press conference at the JUI-F provincial secretariat alongside Senator Kamran Murtaza, Abdul Wasey claimed that PML-N had been the most critical of Fazlur Rehman’s speech and alleged that the party had historically sought to create confrontation between the military and political forces.

He said JUI-F has consistently supported Pakistan and respected its institutions, adding that the sacrifices of Pakistan Army martyrs and all other martyrs are a source of pride for the nation. He also urged the armed forces not to allow anyone to use their name for political purposes.

Abdul Wasey alleged that efforts to label Maulana Fazlur Rehman as a traitor would be unjust and harmful to Pakistan. He maintained that JUI-F had never acted against the country’s interests.

He further said a meeting of the JUI Lawyers Forum had discussed preparations for an All Pakistan Lawyers Convention in Islamabad, where Fazlur Rehman’s speech would be presented in full.

Speaking at the same press conference, Senator Kamran Murtaza said JUI-F has always respected Pakistan’s security institutions and paid tribute to the country’s martyrs. He called for Fazlur Rehman’s complete speech to be made public, arguing that his remarks had been taken out of context.

Kamran Murtaza also urged critics to withdraw what he described as false allegations against the JUI-F chief, while warning against any actions that could deepen divisions between state institutions and the public.

The statements reflect the views and allegations of JUI-F leaders. PML-N and the relevant state institutions had not immediately responded to these claims.
