Former AJK Prime Minister Sardar Tanveer Ilyas’ Convoy Attacked; Security Guard Killed, Several Injured

PALLANDRI: Former Prime Minister of Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) Sardar Tanveer Ilyas survived a firing incident on his convoy in the Dhalkot area while traveling to Rawalakot on a two-day visit. The attack left one security guard dead and several others injured.

According to media reports, unidentified assailants opened fire on the convoy at Tain Dhalkot, causing damage to multiple vehicles and shattering their windows. Former Special Assistant Sardar Imtiaz Shaheen was reportedly among those injured in the incident.

Sardar Tanveer Ilyas, who recently joined the Istehkam-e-Pakistan Party (IPP), was traveling with his convoy to Rawalakot when the attack occurred.

The security guard who lost his life was identified as Sardar Asif Yousaf, a resident of Kotera Gorah in Pallandri. He had recently retired from his security duties with the Prime Minister of Pakistan and was serving as a member of Sardar Tanveer Ilyas’ personal security team at the time of the attack.

Reports indicate that Sardar Asif Yousaf sustained a fatal gunshot wound to the head and died at the scene.

Authorities have yet to release an official statement regarding the motive behind the attack or the identity of those responsible. Further investigations are expected to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident.

The firing incident has raised serious concerns about the security of political figures in Azad Kashmir, particularly during public and political engagements.
