Government Delegation, Protest Committee Conclude Talks as Progress Made on Key Demands

QUETTA: Prolonged negotiations between the government’s negotiating team and the protest committee representing the families of the victims of the Ziarat tragedy have concluded, with significant progress reported on several key demands.

Following the talks, the government delegation left for the Chief Minister’s House to brief Balochistan Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti on the details of the negotiations and the demands presented by the protest committee.

According to sources, the discussions were held in a cordial atmosphere and entered a crucial phase during which the protest committee’s demands were reviewed in detail.

Members of the government delegation stated that substantial consensus had been reached on several important issues, including the formation of a judicial commission to investigate the incident. Positive developments were also reported regarding other demands raised during the meeting.

The delegation said it would present all recommendations and discussion points to the chief minister before announcing the future course of action.

The protest committee was represented by Abdul Rahim Ziaratwal, Asghar Khan Achakzai, Agha Hassan Baloch, Maulana Qadir Luni, and other leaders, who presented the concerns and demands of the victims’ families during the negotiations.

Sources said the progress made during the talks has created optimism that the matter can be resolved through mutual understanding and dialogue. However, a final decision regarding the approval and implementation of the demands will be made after consultations with the Chief Minister of Balochistan.

The negotiations are being viewed as an important step toward addressing the grievances of the victims’ families and reaching an amicable resolution to the ongoing protest.
