Saylani Chairman Reaffirms Cryptocurrency Is Permissible Under Islamic Principles

Karachi:Saylani Welfare International Trust Chairman **Maulana Muhammad Bashir Farooqi Qadri** has reaffirmed his view that **cryptocurrency is permissible (halal)** under Islamic principles, stating that he had issued a religious ruling on the matter 13 months ago.
The statement came during an emergency meeting held at Saylani’s head office following recent media reports regarding cryptocurrency. The meeting was chaired by Maulana Bashir Farooqi and attended by blockchain experts as well as **Mufti Waseem Akhtar Madani**, the institution’s Grand Mufti.
Participants reviewed the ongoing debate over whether cryptocurrency is permissible or prohibited under Islamic law.
Addressing the meeting, Maulana Bashir Farooqi said that the earlier fatwa declaring cryptocurrency permissible had already been sent to the **Council of Islamic Ideology**, the **State Bank of Pakistan**, and the relevant government ministry.
He added that Saylani supports the state’s policy on the matter, noting that many countries around the world have already adopted cryptocurrency for financial transactions.
*The permissibility of cryptocurrency under Islamic law remains a subject of differing scholarly opinions, and no single consensus has been universally adopted.*
