Field Marshal Asim Munir Visits Türkiye, Meets President Erdoğan to Strengthen Defence Ties

Rawalpindi: Pakistan’s Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defence Forces, Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, paid an official visit to Türkiye aimed at further strengthening the longstanding strategic and defence partnership between the two brotherly nations, according to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).

During the visit, Field Marshal Asim Munir met Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, where both leaders discussed bilateral relations, defence cooperation, matters of mutual interest, and the regional security situation.

The ISPR said the army chief also held separate meetings with the Turkish Minister of Defence, the Chief of the Turkish General Staff, and other senior political and military officials. The discussions focused on expanding strategic cooperation and enhancing defence collaboration between Pakistan and Türkiye.

Upon his arrival at the Turkish General Staff Headquarters, Field Marshal Asim Munir was presented with a Guard of Honour. He also visited the headquarters of the Turkish Land Forces, where he was received by the Commander of the Turkish Army.

According to the ISPR, detailed talks with the Chief of the Turkish General Staff covered professional military affairs, regional security challenges, and various aspects of bilateral defence cooperation.

In recognition of his outstanding contributions to Pakistan–Türkiye defence relations, Field Marshal Asim Munir was awarded the Distinguished Service Medal of the Turkish Armed Forces, the ISPR added.
