Trump Claims Iran Agreed to Deal Before Alleged Drone Attack in Strait of Hormuz

Islamabad: U.S. President Donald Trump has claimed that Iran had agreed to a deal with the United States before allegedly carrying out a drone attack on a commercial vessel in the Strait of Hormuz.
In an interview with NBC News, Trump said that Iran and the United States had reached an agreement on Saturday and that Tehran had agreed to abandon its nuclear program as part of the proposed deal.
According to Trump, negotiations concluded successfully, but within an hour of the talks ending, Iran allegedly launched a drone attack on a ship in the Strait of Hormuz.
He further claimed that the United States responded by carrying out overnight airstrikes on Iran following the alleged attack. Trump described the Iranian leadership in highly critical terms and said the Strait of Hormuz remains open to commercial shipping.
During the interview, Trump also spoke about the reported death of Republican Senator Lindsey Graham, saying he had spoken to the senator by phone only a few hours before his reported passing. Trump said Graham appeared fine apart from being tired and described his death as sudden.
Trump’s remarks reflect his account of the events. The claims regarding the alleged agreement, the reported drone attack, and the circumstances described have not been independently verified in the material provided.
