National Party Leader Aslam Baloch Calls for Political Dialogue to Address Balochistan Crisis

Quetta: National Party Balochistan President Aslam Baloch has urged the government to address the province’s worsening security situation through Parliament and democratic institutions, warning that relying on apex committee meetings instead of elected forums could deepen the crisis.

In a statement, Aslam Baloch said that more than 100 people, including civilians, police personnel, and two young members of the Christian community killed in Mastung, had lost their lives during the past week. He described the killing of the two Christian youths as tragic and deeply regrettable.

He criticized the government for convening an apex committee meeting instead of calling a special session of Parliament to debate the security situation. He argued that the issue should have been discussed in the National Assembly, the Senate, and the relevant parliamentary standing committees on interior affairs.

The National Party leader said his party has consistently maintained that weakening democratic institutions undermines their effectiveness. He claimed that many protesters no longer consider the prime minister and chief minister empowered to resolve the crisis, which has contributed to public distrust.

Aslam Baloch urged the government to pursue a political solution through democratic leadership, Parliament, and constitutional institutions. He also called for the release of political prisoners, the announcement of transparent elections, and respect for the public mandate, warning that failure to adopt a political approach could lead to further deterioration of the situation in Balochistan.
