Power Division Clarifies No Change in Protected Electricity Consumer Policy

Islamabad: Pakistan’s Power Division has clarified that no changes have been made to the policy governing protected electricity consumers, dismissing reports suggesting a revision in the eligibility criteria.
In an official statement, the Power Division said that consumers will continue to qualify as protected consumers if their electricity consumption remains 200 units or less for six consecutive months.
The ministry emphasized that the existing policy remains unchanged and that maintaining monthly electricity usage within the prescribed limit over a six-month period is still the requirement for eligibility under the protected consumer category.
The clarification was issued following public discussion and speculation regarding a possible change in the policy for protected electricity consumers.
