Court Orders Arrest of KP Chief Minister Sohail Afridi in PECA Case

Islamabad: A district and sessions court in Islamabad has upheld the non-bailable arrest warrants for Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi and ordered authorities to arrest him and present him before the court.

The case pertains to allegations that Afridi made misleading statements against state institutions and attempted to damage their reputation.

During the hearing, the court maintained the non-bailable warrants due to the chief minister’s failure to appear before the court. It directed law enforcement authorities to ensure his arrest and production before the court.

No further proceedings could take place because Senior Civil Judge Abbas Shah was unavailable. The court subsequently adjourned the hearing until July 21.

Sohail Afridi is facing a case registered by the National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) under the Prevention of Electronic Crimes Act (PECA). The matter remains pending before the court.
