Iranian Parliament Speaker Says ‘Era of Bullying Is Over’ Following U.S. Strikes

Iran’s chief negotiator and Speaker of Parliament, Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, strongly condemned the reported U.S. strikes on Iran, declaring that “the era of bullying and extortion is over” and insisting that Iran will not bow to pressure.

Ghalibaf accused the United States of committing serious violations of the memorandum of understanding between the two sides. He said the alleged U.S. attacks on Iran, the reimposition of sanctions on Iranian oil exports, threats of further military action, interference with Iran’s actions in the Strait of Hormuz, and Israel’s continued military operations in Lebanon all constitute breaches of the agreement.

He reiterated that Iran would defend its sovereignty and national interests in the face of what he described as continued U.S. pressure.
