Isha Koppikar Slams Double Standards in Bollywood Over Age and Gender Bias

Mumbai: Bollywood actress Isha Koppikar has spoken out against what she described as double standards in the film industry regarding age and gender.

Sharing a video reel on social media, the actress questioned the long-standing practice in Bollywood where older male actors continue to play romantic leads opposite actresses who are often half their age.

She said it was unfair that aging male actors are often labeled as “experienced” and “charismatic,” while women face criticism and are seen as “less relevant” as they grow older.

Esha Koppikar pointed out that in films, male stars frequently romance much younger heroines and are still celebrated as leading heroes, a trend she believes is normalized within the industry.

She further added that when women continue to stay confident, stylish, and live life on their own terms as they age, they are often told to “act according to their age,” which reflects a biased mindset.

The actress emphasized that women become stronger and more refined with time, stating that wrinkles on a woman’s face represent not just age but also her struggles, strength, and journey.

She urged people to stop judging women based on age, saying that a woman’s dignity does not come with an expiration date and that she should be recognized for her journey and resilience rather than her age.
