Faisal Vawda Calls for Ishaq Dar’s Resignation Over Allegations Against Relative

Islamabad: Senator Faisal Vawda has called on Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar to resign following allegations against a man identified in media reports as Raza Dar, who is described as a close relative of the senior government official.

In a statement posted on X, Vawda said the allegations against Raza Dar had raised serious concerns and questioned whether Ishaq Dar should continue to hold public office while the matter is under investigation.

Vawda alleged that the suspect faces accusations involving the alleged rape, assault, and extortion of foreign women. He further claimed that the suspect’s arrest took place after the intervention of a foreign embassy.

The senator also alleged that attempts were being made to limit the scope of the investigation, claiming there were efforts to treat the case primarily as one of extortion rather than sexual assault. He further claimed that the alleged victims might be sent out of the country before the legal process is completed and questioned the status of statements to be recorded under Section 164 of Pakistan’s criminal procedure.

Vawda criticized the government’s handling of the matter, accusing it of attempting to suppress the case. He also claimed that no major political party had publicly condemned the allegations.

The allegations and claims made by Vawda have not been independently verified. Pakistani authorities have not publicly confirmed the allegations regarding political interference or the handling of the investigation, and the case remains under investigation. The suspect is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law.
