Senator Samina Mumtaz Zahri Stresses the Importance of Women’s Empowerment on International Women’s Day

Quetta:Senator Samina Mumtaz Zahri, Chairperson of the Senate Standing Committee on Human Rights, emphasized the vital role of women in society and their contribution to the development of the nation. Speaking at an event on the occasion of International Women’s Day, she stated that women are an essential pillar of any society, and no society can progress without their participation.

She highlighted that the rights granted to women in Islam are unparalleled, even in Western societies, and that Pakistani women are well-educated, aware, and actively contributing to various sectors of society. Senator Zahri also pointed out that the protection and well-being of women are crucial for the overall development of the nation, with specific focus on the work being done in Balochistan.

She commended the ongoing progress in women’s health in Balochistan, especially through a program launched with the cooperation of China. Senator Zahri stressed the need for a comprehensive policy at all levels to address the issues faced by women and ensure its implementation. She reiterated that the Constitution of Pakistan guarantees the protection of women’s rights, and it is essential to raise awareness about these rights.

Furthermore, Senator Zahri paid tribute to the courageous women in Palestine and Kashmir, who continue to fight for their freedom and rights, urging that their struggles should not be forgotten.

She also emphasized the importance of empowering women, stating that without the strength and empowerment of women, no society can truly be strong. Senator Zahri assured that the Senate would continue to advocate for the rights and protection of women, especially in Balochistan, ensuring their representation in all aspects of society, including employment and other critical issues.

Finally, Senator Zahri reaffirmed that Pakistan, as an Islamic country, respects the dignity and honor of women, allowing them to raise their voices for their rightful claims within the bounds of Islamic values. However, she made it clear that there will be no tolerance for exploiting these rights for any ulterior motives or spreading false propaganda.

She concluded with the hope that educated and skilled women, especially from Balochistan, would continue to play an active role in advocating for their rights and the rights of others, without fear or hesitation.
