Fruit Vendor Stages Protest in Kasur, Alleges Extortion by Enforcement Personnel

Kasur: A fruit vendor staged a dramatic protest in Punjab’s Kasur district after alleging that members of a local enforcement force demanded 10 kilograms of mangoes in exchange for returning his confiscated weighing scale.
According to the vendor, the personnel seized the weighing scale from his handcart and told him it would only be returned if he handed over 10 kilograms of mangoes. He claimed that after reluctantly complying with the demand, his weighing scale was returned.
In protest against the alleged mistreatment, the vendor sat in front of the enforcement vehicle, blocking its path and demanding action against those involved.
Speaking to the media, the vendor alleged that the same officials initially allowed street vendors to set up their carts but later harassed them and demanded payments.
“I am ready to go to a mosque and swear on the Holy Quran that these officials take money from poor vendors for allowing them to operate,” he said. He also urged senior authorities to visit the site and investigate the allegations themselves.
The vendor further stated that if his claims were proven false, he was willing to face the consequences, saying, “If I am lying, then shoot me here.”
The allegations have not been independently verified, and no official response from the relevant authorities had been reported at the time of writing.
