Ahsan Iqbal Clarifies Orange Line Train Project Was Funded by Punjab Government

ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister for Planning, Development and Special Initiatives, Ahsan Iqbal, has clarified that the Orange Line Metro Train project in Lahore was completed using funds provided by the Punjab government and did not receive any financial support from the federal government.

Speaking in the National Assembly on Sunday, the minister stated that the Orange Line project was not developed under the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) framework. He emphasized that the Punjab government financed the project through its own resources.

Ahsan Iqbal further said that the federal government did not contribute a single rupee towards the construction of the Orange Line Metro Train.

The minister’s remarks came while addressing the lower house of parliament, where he sought to clarify the funding source of the major public transport project in Lahore.

The Orange Line Metro Train is one of Pakistan’s largest urban mass transit projects and serves thousands of commuters daily in Lahore.
