Iranian Delegation Walks Out of Talks in Protest Over Donald Trump’s Statements

Bürgenstock (News Desk): The United States–Iran peace talks have reportedly stalled after the Iranian delegation walked out in protest over statements made by former U.S. President Donald Trump.

According to international media reports, tensions escalated during the ongoing talks in the Swiss city of Bürgenstock on Sunday when Iran’s delegation staged a walkout and left the venue following what it described as provocative remarks and threats from Trump.

Iran’s semi-official news agency Tasnim, citing sources close to the negotiations, confirmed that the delegation withdrew after renewed threats of attacks on Iran were made during the dialogue session.

In response, Iran’s top negotiator and Speaker of Parliament Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf issued a strong warning, urging Washington to exercise restraint in its statements, adding that Iran’s armed forces remain fully prepared and on high alert against any possible aggression.

An Iranian delegation member stated that Tehran will not discuss any other regional or international issues unless the ongoing conflict in Lebanon is brought to a complete end. He added that any progress in negotiations is directly linked to developments on the ground.

Meanwhile, Iranian officials also indicated that despite the diplomatic deadlock, technical and executive mechanisms regarding the restoration and transfer of Iran’s frozen assets—facilitated with mediation from Qatar—have already begun, with Qatari representatives actively participating in the process.
