Pakistan’s Freelancers Earn Record $197 Million in Monthly Export Revenue

ISLAMABAD: Pakistani freelancers have set a new national record by earning $197 million in export revenue in September 2026, marking the highest monthly foreign exchange earnings in the country’s history.

According to a media report, freelancers’ export earnings increased by 49 per cent compared with September last year and rose by 11 per cent from August 2026.

The growth highlights the expanding contribution of Pakistan’s freelance workforce to the country’s foreign exchange earnings, supported by demand for digital services in international markets.

During the first quarter of the current fiscal year, from July to September 2026, Pakistani freelancers collectively earned $550 million in foreign exchange. This represented a 46 per cent increase compared with the corresponding period of the previous fiscal year.

The latest figures indicate continued growth in Pakistan’s freelance and digital services sector, which has become an increasingly important source of export revenue.

During the fiscal year 2025-26, Pakistani freelancers generated total export earnings of $1.76 billion.

The record monthly performance in September further underscores the sector’s potential to contribute to Pakistan’s digital economy and strengthen its foreign exchange inflows.
