Armed Robbers Loot Passengers on National Highway in Balochistan, Open Fire on Oil Tankers

DERA MURAD JAMALI: Armed bandits set up a blockade on the national highway near Haji Shahr area of Kachhi district in broad daylight, looting passengers and drivers of multiple vehicles and opening fire on oil tankers, police said.

According to police officials, around 15 unidentified armed men established a roadblock on the Lungi Double Road section of the highway under the jurisdiction of Haji Shahr police station. The suspects, armed with modern weapons, stopped several vehicles and looted passengers, taking away cash worth hundreds of thousands of rupees, dozens of mobile phones, watches, and other valuables.

The attackers also opened fire on two oil tankers, causing tyre bursts and broken windshields, resulting in minor injuries to two individuals.

Following the incident, police and security forces reached the scene and an intense exchange of fire took place. Officials said the suspects managed to flee after the confrontation.

Security forces cordoned off the entire area and launched a search operation to apprehend the fleeing attackers. The injured were shifted to Civil Hospital Bakhtiarabad for medical treatment.

Authorities have further intensified security measures in the region to prevent similar incidents on the highway.
