Balochistan Education Department Suspends Over 24 Employees for Attending Budget Day Protest

QUETTA: The School Education Department of Balochistan has taken strict disciplinary action by suspending more than two dozen teachers and administrative staff members over allegations of participation in an anti-government protest held on Budget Day.

According to an official notification, the action was taken in response to the protest held on June 17, 2026, during which government employees reportedly violated official rules by participating in political activity and demonstrations against government policies.

The department stated that the participation of government employees in such protests constitutes a serious breach of the government service code of conduct and falls under misconduct. It further noted that several of the suspended employees were also detained by law enforcement agencies following the incident.

Invoking Section 6 of the Balochistan Employees Efficiency and Discipline Act (BEEDA-2011), the department has suspended the services of more than 24 employees with immediate effect. The suspended personnel include teaching and clerical staff from various cadres such as PET, JDM, JVT, JET, SST, EST, and junior clerks.

The employees belong to multiple districts across the province, including Jhal Magsi, Kachhi, Quetta, Kalat, Chaman, Zhob, Qila Saifullah, Loralai, Dalbandin, Pishin, and Barkhan.

The notification further directed all concerned District Education Officers (DEOs) to conduct detailed inquiries, initiate formal investigations, prepare charge sheets, and keep the Secretary of the School Education Department regularly informed about the progress.

Officials emphasized that adherence to the code of conduct is mandatory for all government employees, and involvement in political activities or anti-government demonstrations is strictly prohibited. The department said the action aims to ensure discipline, accountability, and the rule of law within government institutions, warning that no leniency will be shown in future violations.
