Sindh Budget 2026-27: Minimum Wage Raised to Rs43,000, Says Sharjeel Memon

Karachi:** Senior Sindh Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon has described the Sindh government’s 2026-27 budget as people-friendly, balanced, and reflective of the province’s development priorities, saying that raising the minimum monthly wage from Rs40,000 to Rs43,000 is a significant step for the working class.

Chief Minister of Sindh, Murad Ali Shah, presented the provincial budget for the fiscal year 2026-27 on Wednesday.

Under the budget proposals, salaries and pensions of Sindh government employees will be increased by 7 percent. The government also announced the merger of Adhoc Relief Allowances granted in 2022 and 2025 into employees’ pay structures.

The provincial government has set the minimum monthly wage at Rs43,000, up from Rs40,000, aiming to provide greater financial support to workers amid rising living costs.

The Sindh government has decided not to introduce any new development schemes in the upcoming fiscal year and has proposed allocating Rs2.56 trillion for non-development expenditures.

Following the budget presentation, Sharjeel Memon said that the Pakistan Peoples Party-led Sindh government has consistently prioritized public welfare, employment generation, education, healthcare, and infrastructure development.

He emphasized that the increase in the minimum wage demonstrates the government’s commitment to supporting laborers and low-income families. According to Memon, the province’s development vision is based on practical implementation rather than mere announcements.

The minister noted that more than Rs900 billion was invested in development projects during the previous fiscal year, describing the Sindh Peoples Housing Program as one of the most significant public welfare initiatives in Pakistan’s history.

He added that substantial allocations have been made for the education and health sectors, while measures such as the Benazir Hari Card, agricultural machinery support, modern technology, insurance facilities, and financial assistance programs will help strengthen the agricultural sector.
