Balochistan Being Treated Unfairly Like a Step-Mother: Without Area-Based Budget, Development Will Remain a Dream for 100 Years – Abdul Ghafoor Haideri

Quetta – Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI-F) Central Secretary General and senior parliamentarian Maulana Abdul Ghafoor Haideri has strongly criticized federal budget allocations and alleged continued injustice toward Balochistan, saying that the province should be allocated funds on the basis of its land area instead of population.

In a special interview with “UNA” news agency, he expressed deep concern over what he described as decades of neglect of Pakistan’s largest province, adding that this has resulted in widespread underdevelopment and a growing sense of deprivation among its people.

Maulana Haideri said that development projects and welfare schemes should not be designed by “looking at faces” but should be implemented based on ground realities. He stressed that infrastructure such as water supply lines, roads to remote areas, electricity networks, and gas provision require practical implementation on the ground, which becomes difficult without considering the vast geographical spread of Balochistan.

He further argued that due to its large area and scattered population, Balochistan requires a different and fairer development formula. Ignoring these realities, he said, would continue to widen the development gap between Balochistan and other provinces.

The JUI-F leader warned the federal government that if Balochistan continues to be treated in a discriminatory manner, the province’s people may remain deprived of development for the next 100 years. He urged authorities to revise their approach and allocate a special development package and fair budget based on both area and ground needs.

Maulana Haideri concluded that without addressing these long-standing grievances, it would be impossible to eliminate the sense of deprivation in Balochistan.
