9-Year-Old Girl Killed in Chakwal Encounter Case, CCD Officer Sent to Jail on Judicial Remand

Islamabad/Chakwal: A Counter Crime Department (CCD) officer involved in the killing of a 9-year-old Australian-Pakistani girl during an alleged encounter in Chakwal has been arrested and sent to jail on judicial remand.
According to details, CCD personnel had earlier claimed they were engaged in an operation against robbers when they opened fire on a vehicle. As a result, a 9-year-old girl was killed while her father, identified as Adil, and another passenger, Afnan, were injured.
Following the incident, authorities amended the case, adding Section 302 (premeditated murder), whereas it was initially registered under Section 322 (culpable homicide not amounting to murder).
Police confirmed that the officer involved has been arrested, suspended, and shifted to jail on judicial remand. A spokesperson for CCD said that their detailed position on the incident had already been issued on June 10.
According to CCD, the officer allegedly violated standard operating procedures (SOPs) during an attempted robbery bust, which resulted in the tragic death of the child. The department stated that the accused’s weapon and spent shells have been sent for forensic examination.
Officials further said that a transparent investigation is underway and the department is in continuous contact with the affected family, while reaffirming its commitment to justice and accountability.
Senior CCD Punjab officials also visited Chakwal, offered Fateha at the grave of the deceased child, and expressed condolences to the family, assuring them of justice.
Investigative sources said the statement of the injured father has been recorded, while the official weapon used in the firing was recovered. Constable Shuja was later produced before a magistrate and sent to jail on judicial remand, with the next hearing scheduled for June 26.
Sources further claimed that two alleged robbers, identified as Muhammad Fayyaz and Muhammad Abbas, were also killed in a separate encounter. Both were reportedly record-holders and wanted in multiple cases.
