Seven Killed, 33 Injured as Storms and Heavy Rains Batter Khyber Pakhtunkhwa

At least seven people were killed and 33 others injured in various incidents caused by heavy rain, strong winds, and thunderstorms across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa during the past 24 hours.
According to a damage assessment report issued by the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA), the casualties occurred mainly due to the collapse of roofs and walls in different districts of the province.
The deceased included two children, four men, and one woman, while the injured comprised seven men, twelve women, and fourteen children.
The PDMA said the incidents were reported in the districts of Bannu, Shangla, and Mansehra.
Authorities have also warned of a heightened risk of glacial lake outburst floods (GLOFs) in the province’s northern regions. Rising temperatures combined with recent rainfall have accelerated glacier melting, increasing the likelihood of flash floods.
Deputy commissioners in Chitral, Upper Dir, Swat, Kohistan, and Mansehra have been directed to remain on high alert and continuously monitor vulnerable locations.
The PDMA warned that low-lying areas could face flooding and instructed local administrations to ensure timely warnings and evacuations where necessary. Residents have been advised to stay away from riverbanks, seasonal streams, and areas with fast-flowing water to avoid potential dangers.
