Pakistan Adjusts Petroleum Levy, Cuts Rate on Petrol and Raises It on Diesel

The federal government has revised petroleum levy rates, reducing the levy on petrol while increasing it on high-speed diesel with immediate effect.

According to official documents issued by the Petroleum Division, the petroleum levy on petrol has been reduced by Rs9.24 per litre. As a result, the levy on petrol has decreased from Rs116.08 per litre to Rs106.84 per litre.

At the same time, the government has increased the levy on diesel by Rs8.67 per litre. The levy on high-speed diesel has risen from Rs44.59 per litre to Rs53.26 per litre.

The Petroleum Division also confirmed that the levy on kerosene oil remains unchanged at Rs20.36 per litre.

The adjustment in levy rates comes as the government continues to manage fuel taxation and revenue targets amid evolving domestic and international energy market conditions.

Officials have not yet provided further details on the expected impact of the revised levy structure on fuel prices or government revenues.
