QUETTA: The بلوچستان Zone of the Federal Investigation Agency has foiled an attempt to illegally transfer Rs52.5 million across the Pakistan-Afghanistan border at Chaman during a major operation.
According to FIA officials, the action was carried out on the basis of timely intelligence information, leading to the recovery of a huge amount of local currency and the arrest of a suspect allegedly trying to smuggle the money into Afghanistan using concealed methods.
Sources within the FIA said investigations have been launched to trace the currency smuggling network and its facilitators. Initial findings suggest that the arrested individual may be linked to an organized group involved in illegal financial activities.
FIA authorities reiterated their commitment to continuing indiscriminate action against elements involved in damaging the national economy, including those engaged in hawala and hundi operations.
Officials also stated that border surveillance would be further strengthened to curb financial crimes and prevent illegal currency smuggling in the future.
