Storms and Heavy Rain Cause Widespread Damage in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Punjab, Four Killed
Strong winds and heavy rainfall caused widespread destruction across several districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Punjab, leaving at least four people dead and several others injured.
In Dera Ismail Khan, intense rainfall triggered flooding in streams and seasonal waterways, raising concerns about further damage in low-lying areas. Heavy rain also affected Lahore, Faisalabad, Jhang, Chiniot, Sialkot, and other cities, disrupting electricity supply in numerous localities.
Powerful winds uprooted trees and damaged solar panels at multiple locations, causing additional losses and infrastructure disruptions.
According to the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA), four people were killed and 16 others injured in Bannu due to strong winds and torrential rain.
The PDMA said that walls and houses collapsed in various affected areas as a result of the severe weather. Rescue and relief operations are currently underway to assist residents and assess the extent of the damage.
Authorities have advised the public to stay away from dilapidated buildings and unsafe structures during adverse weather conditions. The PDMA added that its Emergency Operations Center remains fully operational and is closely monitoring the situation.
