ECC Approves Key Decisions, Allocates Additional 50,000 MT Wheat for Khyber Pakhtunkhwa

Islamabad (Kudrat News): The Economic Coordination Committee (ECC) of the Cabinet, chaired by Federal Minister for Finance Muhammad Aurangzeb, held an important meeting in Islamabad and approved several financial and administrative decisions, including technical supplementary grants for various ministries and institutions.
The ECC approved the supply of an additional 50,000 metric tonnes of wheat from PASSCO to the Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa to meet its requirements.
According to the decision, wheat will be provided to the provincial government at Rs4,150 per maund, which is expected to help ensure food availability and strengthen food security in the province.
During the meeting, the ECC also approved over Rs2.67 billion in technical supplementary grants for the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting for various media campaigns and public awareness initiatives aimed at effectively highlighting government policies and programs.
The committee further approved Rs860 million for SUPARCO’s space projects and astronomical observatories, including funding for Pakistan’s manned space mission, which is considered a major step forward for the country’s space program.
For security-related expenditures, the ECC approved a grant of Rs646 million for Frontier Corps Balochistan (South) Turbat to enhance operational capacity and security arrangements in the region.
In addition, a Rs5 billion compensation package was approved for workers of the Karachi Dock Labour Board, aimed at providing financial relief to thousands of laborers.
The committee also approved Rs10 million for budget preparations for the fiscal year 2026–27 to ensure effective planning of the upcoming federal budget.
The meeting was attended by federal ministers Qaiser Ahmed Sheikh, Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui, and Rana Tanveer Hussain, while Ahsan Iqbal and Sardar Owais Leghari joined via video link.
The ECC reviewed key matters related to the national economy, development projects, food security, space research, and worker welfare before approving the decisions.
