Oxygen Pipeline Equipment Reportedly Stolen from Children’s Ward at Abbasi Shaheed Hospital

KARACHI: Reports have emerged of a theft incident at Abbasi Shaheed Hospital in Karachi, where oxygen pipeline pipes and other equipment were allegedly stolen from the children’s ward.

According to sources, surveillance cameras installed in the ward were reportedly turned away from their original positions during the theft, hindering monitoring of the incident. The theft is said to have continued for several hours, and suspicion has been raised regarding the possible involvement of some hospital employees.

Sources further warned that damage to or removal of oxygen pipeline infrastructure could disrupt the hospital’s oxygen supply system and related networks, posing serious risks to patients, particularly children receiving treatment in the ward.

The reported incident has raised concerns about security measures and the protection of critical medical infrastructure within the hospital.

Meanwhile, hospital administration described the theft as a minor incident but confirmed that an investigation is underway. Officials stated that further action will be taken once the facts surrounding the case are established.

Authorities have not yet released details regarding the value of the stolen equipment or whether any suspects have been identified.
