Case Against Aleema Khan and Others Over November 26 Protest Reaches Final Stage

Rawalpindi: Proceedings in the case registered over the November 26 protest against 10 accused, including Aleema Khan, have entered their final stage in the Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) in Rawalpindi.

During the hearing, the prosecution formally closed its evidence after presenting testimony and documentary proof. Defense counsel completed the cross-examination of two prosecution witnesses, including the investigating officer and a deputy director of the Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority.

A total of 18 prosecution witnesses have testified in the case, and their statements and cross-examinations have been completed.

Nine of the accused named in the case have received questionnaires under Section 342 of the Criminal Procedure Code, which allows defendants to respond to allegations and evidence presented against them.

Aleema Khan requested additional time from the court until June 16 to receive and review her Section 342 statement.

The defense also sought permission to present court witnesses in support of its case. The court directed the defense to submit a formal application along with a list of proposed witnesses.

Special Prosecutor Zaheer Shah appeared before the court with his legal team, while Aleema Khan attended the hearing alongside her counsel, Faisal Malik.

The hearing was conducted by ATC Judge Amjad Ali Shah. Further proceedings are expected after the defense submits its witness list and the remaining legal formalities are completed.
