Heroic Young Man Who Saved Dr. Mah Noor From Acid Attack Shares Details of Incident
QUETTA: Abdul Razzaq Tareen, the young man who risked his own life to save Dr. Mah Noor during a recent acid attack in Quetta, has shared details of the harrowing incident in a recent interview.
Dr. Mah Noor was severely injured after a staff member allegedly threw acid on her. The attack left her with serious burns and reportedly affected one of her eyes. During the incident, Abdul Razzaq intervened and helped protect her from further harm, suffering burns himself in the process.
After being discharged from the hospital, a large number of people gathered outside Abdul Razzaq’s home to commend his bravery and express their appreciation for his actions.
Speaking to the media, Abdul Razzaq said he was grateful to everyone who visited him. He explained that although his regular duty was in the medicine ward, he had briefly gone to the orthopedic ward for a medical check-up when he suddenly heard a woman screaming for help.
He said that upon reaching the scene, he found a woman badly injured, with severe burns on her face and damaged clothing. Seeing that she needed immediate assistance, he used his own clothes to cover her.
According to Abdul Razzaq, the victim, who was in immense pain, held onto him for support, causing him to come into contact with the acid and sustain injuries as well.
He revealed that doctors had recommended surgery due to the serious condition of his hand. “Even if I had lost my life while trying to save her, I would not have been afraid,” he said, adding that his only concern at the time was to help another human being.
Abdul Razzaq further shared that he is a second-year intermediate student appearing as a private candidate and works part-time. He expressed his desire to complete his education and secure a good job in the future.
Following the incident, social media users widely praised his courage and selflessness. Many have called on the government to cover all of his medical expenses, provide financial assistance, and recognize his heroism with a government job.
