Alleged Corruption in C&W Department: Newly Built Road Costing Millions in Barkhan Turns into Ruins in 6 Months
Use of Substandard Material on Rakhni-to-Dabba Road Exposes Provincial Government's Development Claims; Demands for Transparent Investigation

BARKHAN (Daily Qudrat Quetta) — An important connecting road linking Rakhni to Dabba in Barkhan district has suffered severe wear and tear within just six months of construction, while the pipes laid in place of culverts and bridges have also become completely blocked, causing severe difficulties for local residents in commuting. The road’s deterioration in such a short period has raised serious questions about construction quality, the contractor’s performance, and the relevant Communication and Works (C&W) Department. According to local sources and citizens, due to the alleged collusion and incompetence of the XEN Barkhan, substandard material was used, as a result of which the newly constructed road has begun to present the appearance of ruins within a few months. Due to the road’s deterioration and the blocking of pipes laid for water passages, ordinary citizens as well as patients, school-going children, and traders are facing severe travel difficulties, while there is a strong apprehension of further damage to the road during expected rains due to the lack of water drainage.
Highly aggrieved residents of Barkhan and surrounding areas have strongly demanded that the Balochistan government, the Secretary C&W, and senior authorities take immediate notice. They have appealed that a prompt, transparent, and technical investigation be conducted into the material used and the quality of work in the construction of the Rakhni-to-Dabba road, and that the blocked pipes be immediately opened and the road be properly repaired so that the public can be relieved of the chronic hardship they face.
