Electricity Prices Reduced by Rs 1.99 per Unit for Three Months, NEPRA Issues Notification

ISLAMABAD: In a relief for electricity consumers, the National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) has announced a reduction of Rs 1.99 per unit in electricity prices for a period of three months and issued a formal notification.
According to NEPRA, the reduction has been made under the quarterly adjustment mechanism for January to March 2026. The relief will be passed on to consumers across the country from June to August 2026.
The notification further stated that the reduction in electricity tariffs will also apply to consumers of K-Electric, providing nationwide relief.
Officials estimate that the total financial relief to consumers will amount to approximately Rs 67.17 billion. The adjustment is expected to reduce electricity bills for millions of households and businesses during the applicable period.
NEPRA clarified that the price cut has been implemented as part of routine quarterly adjustments, aimed at reflecting changes in generation costs and other sectoral factors.
