Coalition Government Likely in Gilgit-Baltistan: Khurram Dastgir Khan

Islamabad (Qudrat Daily) – Former federal minister and senior Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader Khurram Dastgir Khan has claimed that a coalition government will be formed in Gilgit-Baltistan following the elections.
In an interview, he said that PML-N is expected to secure the highest number of seats in Gilgit-Baltistan, estimating that the party may win 13 out of 24 seats. He added that the main contest is between PML-N and Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), while the Istehkam-e-Pakistan Party and independent candidates are also likely to win a few seats.
Khurram Dastgir Khan said that PML-N had initiated major development projects in Gilgit-Baltistan and emphasized the need for extensive infrastructure due to the region’s harsh weather conditions.
He further stated that the Prime Minister has announced the construction of a motorway-standard road from Naran to Chilas. He also mentioned that a 13.5-kilometer tunnel will be constructed at Babusar Top.
According to him, the tunnel will ensure year-round connectivity on this route, allowing uninterrupted travel for all 12 months of the year.
