Jamaat-e-Islami Never Won a Seat in Balochistan, Current Gwadar Representative Came Through “Backdoor”: Hasil Kalmati

Gwadar: Balochistan National Party (BNP) central leader and former provincial minister Mir Hasil Kalmati has said that Jamaat-e-Islami has never won a single seat in Balochistan, while the current representative from Gwadar came into power through what he termed a “backdoor” process rather than public mandate.

He made these remarks while addressing a program titled “Haal-o-Ahwal” at the Gwadar Press Club, where he strongly criticized the current political situation and electoral process.

Mir Hasil Kalmati claimed that all major development projects in Gwadar were initiated during his 15-year tenure in power. He said that those who previously made emotional promises before elections have now disappeared from the public eye, and their “drama” has been exposed.

He alleged that election winners through what he called “Form 47 manipulation” would be rejected by the people of Gwadar, adding that their performance is limited only to promoting trawling activities, which has severely harmed the livelihoods of fishermen.

Referring to his own tenure, Kalmati said he worked on solving Gwadar’s basic issues, particularly water scarcity. He mentioned several completed projects including Ankada, Shadi Kaur, Sud, Makola, and Shiznik dams, along with water pipeline schemes for rural areas.

In the education sector, he highlighted the upgradation of schools and establishment of colleges in Pasni, Jiwani, and Pishkan, as well as efforts to bring universities and technical institutions to the region.

Regarding healthcare, he said major facilities such as Indus Hospital in Gwadar were established through his efforts, while hospitals funded by Oman were built in Pasni and Rural Health Centres (RHCs) were set up in various areas.

He also thanked former Chief Minister Abdul Quddus Bizenjo for providing job opportunities to youth during his tenure on his recommendations.

Kalmati further stated that ongoing development projects in Gwadar, including Mullah Fazal Chowk, Eid Gah, grounds, school renovations, and the Old Town restoration project, were all part of his earlier planning. He claimed that no new major project has been initiated in the current era.

He concluded that if transparent elections are held, the people of Gwadar will once again trust him, as he still holds a comprehensive development vision for the region.
