Husband Kills Wife with Iron Rod in Karachi’s Orangi Town; Arrests Himself at Police Station

KARACHI: A tragic incident was reported in Orangi Town where a man allegedly killed his wife by repeatedly striking her with an iron rod inside their home, police said.

According to details, the incident took place in the Pakistan Bazaar police limits area of Orangi Town Sector 11½, Ghaziabad, near Abu Bakr Siddiq Mosque, Gali No. 4. The suspect, identified as 64-year-old Asghar Ali, attacked his wife during a domestic dispute, resulting in her death.

After committing the crime, the accused locked the house and later went to the police station, where he surrendered himself and was taken into custody. He also handed over the alleged weapon used in the killing during initial questioning.

Police reached the residence following the suspect’s disclosure and shifted the body of the deceased to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for legal formalities. The victim was identified as 58-year-old Asma Begum, wife of Asghar Ali, and a mother of four children.

Officials said the incident appears to be the result of a domestic dispute. The accused, who reportedly worked in the footwear business in the past, has confessed to the crime during preliminary investigation. Further inquiry is underway.
