Punjab Police to Deploy 5,000 Personnel for Gilgit-Baltistan Elections

ISLAMABAD: The Punjab Police has decided to deploy 5,000 personnel to assist with security arrangements for the upcoming Gilgit-Baltistan Assembly elections.
According to sources, Punjab Police has sent an official communication to the relevant authorities regarding the deployment of the personnel for election duty. The request was made by the Gilgit-Baltistan Election Commission to ensure smooth and secure conduct of the polls.
Elections for all 24 seats of the Gilgit-Baltistan Assembly are scheduled to be held on June 7. A total of 958,480 registered voters are expected to exercise their right to vote.
The Election Commission stated that 403 candidates are contesting the elections, including 396 male candidates and 8 female candidates.
Authorities are finalizing security and administrative arrangements to ensure a peaceful and transparent electoral process across the region.
