New Kiswah of the Holy Kaaba to Be Installed on 1st Muharram

MAKKAH:** The ceremonial handover of the new Kiswah (the black cloth covering the Holy Kaaba) has taken place on behalf of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, ahead of its annual replacement.

During the ceremony, the new Kiswah was officially handed over to the Keeper of the Kaaba, who is responsible for overseeing the sacred site’s custodianship.

As per tradition, the Kiswah will be replaced on the 1st of Muharram, marking the beginning of the new Islamic year. A special and spiritually significant ceremony will be held for the installation of the new covering.

The annual replacement of the Kiswah is a longstanding Islamic tradition and reflects the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s continued care and service for the Two Holy Mosques and their sacred landmarks.
