Mitchell Marsh Doubtful for Pakistan ODIs, Josh Inglis Emerges as Captaincy Candidate

SYDNEY: Australia’s ODI captain Mitchell Marsh is reportedly doubtful for the upcoming One Day International series against Pakistan due to injury concerns, paving the way for wicketkeeper-batter Josh Inglis to emerge as a leading candidate for captaincy.

According to Australian media reports, Marsh sustained an ankle injury during the Indian Premier League (IPL) and has also been dealing with fatigue following a demanding season, raising questions over his availability for the series.

The first ODI between Australia national cricket team and Pakistan national cricket team is scheduled for May 30 in Rawalpindi.

In Marsh’s potential absence, Josh Inglis is being considered for leadership duties, especially as regular stand-in captains Pat Cummins and Travis Head are currently unavailable due to IPL commitments and are not part of the ODI squad.

Reports also suggest that Ollie Peake could make his international debut if squad changes are finalized.

The three-match ODI series includes fixtures on May 30 in Rawalpindi, followed by matches on June 2 and June 4 in Lahore.
