CM Maryam Nawaz Orders Foolproof Security for Actress Momina Iqbal and Her Family in Harassment Case
LAHORE: Pakistani television actress Momina Iqbal has been provided foolproof security along with her family after Maryam Nawaz took strict notice of her harassment allegations.
The actress had recently spoken out about alleged prolonged harassment, inappropriate messages, and psychological pressure. She claimed that despite repeatedly approaching police and cybercrime authorities, she was not given adequate protection.
According to media reports, the name of Punjab Assembly member Saqib Chadhar has surfaced in connection with the case. Momina Iqbal reportedly named both the politician and his wife in a complaint submitted to the National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency. The agency has initiated proceedings and summoned both parties.
The controversy intensified after the actress alleged that certain individuals associated with the Punjab Chief Minister’s Office attempted to pressure her into dropping the case. In emotional statements, she said that she and her family had been facing severe mental stress and threats.
“If I do not get justice, I will hold a press conference with all the evidence,” she warned.
Following the chief minister’s intervention, Momina Iqbal praised the Punjab government’s response and thanked Maryam Nawaz for taking immediate action, referring the case to relevant authorities, and ensuring comprehensive security arrangements for her family.
The actress also appreciated the efforts of the National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency for issuing notices to the accused individuals.
Momina Iqbal further requested the public not to make premature accusations before her official statement is recorded, but vowed that the alleged harassers would eventually be exposed.
She also claimed that several other women had contacted her with similar allegations against the same MPA and were prepared to come forward as witnesses. The actress thanked the public and media community for their support during the ongoing ordeal.
