Six Arab Nations Urge Iran to Withdraw Unilateral Hormuz Measures

UNITED NATIONS: Six Arab countries have called on Iran to withdraw what they described as unilateral measures imposed in the Strait of Hormuz, according to a joint letter sent to the United Nations.

The letter, addressed to the UN Secretary-General, was submitted by Bahrain, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, and Jordan.

In the communication, the Arab nations stated that no country has the right to impose unilateral regulations on an international waterway and stressed the importance of maintaining freedom of navigation through the strategically vital strait.

The countries also presented six demands, including the withdrawal of Iran’s administrative claims over the Strait of Hormuz, the unconditional reopening of the waterway, and compensation for damages caused by the ongoing disruptions.

The move comes amid rising regional tensions and growing international concern over the impact of instability in the Gulf on global trade and energy supplies.
