AI-Generated Hate Videos from Pakistan Allegedly Monetized via Meta Ads: Report

A report by the Bureau of Investigative Journalism has revealed that AI-generated hate content originating from Pakistan was allegedly circulated in the United Kingdom and monetized through Meta Platforms’s advertising system.
According to the report, the videos targeted UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer and London Mayor Sadiq Khan. One of the fake videos reportedly received millions of views before being taken down.
The investigation claimed that a person based in Pakistan was involved in uploading and managing the content. The individual reportedly admitted to earning monthly income through social media monetization, saying he did not fully understand the content due to limited English proficiency and later deleted some posts after concerns were raised. The associated accounts were subsequently suspended.
Following the report, a spokesperson for the Mayor of London called on social media companies to take stronger action against harmful and misleading content circulating on their platforms.
