Trump Reacts to Iran’s Missile Strike on U.S. Base in Qatar, Calls It a ‘Weak Response

Washington D.C:U.S. President Donald Trump responded to Iran’s missile strike on a U.S. military base in Qatar by describing the Iranian retaliation as “very weak” and reaffirming that the U.S. had effectively countered the attack.
In a statement posted on his social media platform, Truth Social, President Trump said that Iran’s missile attack on U.S. nuclear facilities had been expected to be weak, and indeed, it was. He explained that Iran launched 14 missiles, of which 13 were intercepted, while one missile, which was headed in a non-threatening direction, was allowed to pass.
“I am pleased to report that no Americans were injured in the Iranian missile attack in Qatar, and the damage was minimal,” Trump wrote. “The important thing is that it seems Iran has vented its anger, and I hope no further animosity will arise.”
Trump also expressed gratitude to Iran, stating, “I thank Iran for notifying us ahead of the attack, which allowed us to avoid any casualties. Hopefully, this will lead to peace and reconciliation in the region. I will also encourage Israel to follow this example.”
Additionally, Trump took the opportunity to thank the Emir of Qatar for his efforts towards maintaining peace in the region, acknowledging the country’s role in facilitating de-escalation.
**Context of the Attack:**
Iran’s missile strike came as a response to a U.S. attack, and Iranian state TV confirmed that missiles had targeted Qatar’s Al-Udeid military airbase, a key U.S. facility in the region. Just before the attack, Qatar had announced the closure of its airspace. It was also reported that the U.S. had moved 40 of its warplanes out of the Al-Udeid base three days prior to the missile strike.
This latest development comes amid heightened tensions between the U.S. and Iran, with both countries being involved in a series of military actions in the region. President Trump’s comments signal a de-escalation in rhetoric, even as the U.S. remains cautious in its stance toward Iran’s actions.
