Pakistan to End Cash Passport Fee Collection from July 1, 2026

ISLAMABAD, June 23, 2026 — Pakistan will discontinue cash payment of passport fees at all passport offices starting July 1, 2026, introducing a fully digital payment system instead.

According to a briefing held under the chairmanship of Director General Immigration and Passports Muhammad Ali Randhawa, all passport fee payments will be processed through digital methods only, with cash transactions being phased out completely.

Officials stated that from the implementation date, passport fees will only be accepted via QR code-based digital payments. A dedicated passport mobile application is also expected to be launched soon, allowing citizens at home and abroad to submit applications online.

The new system will also enable applicants to receive their passports at their doorstep, improving convenience and reducing physical visits to passport offices.

Authorities further confirmed that the Directorate General of Immigration and Passports will move towards issuing only e-passports in the future. However, existing machine-readable passports will remain valid and usable until their expiration dates.

The reform is part of broader efforts to digitize public services and streamline passport issuance procedures across Pakistan.
